The Audi R8 (type 42) is a sports car with a longitudinally mounted mid-engine, and uses the Audi four-wheel drive Permanent four-wheel drive.E ‘was introduced by German automaker Audi AG in 2006.The car has been exclusively designed, developed and manufactured by Audi AG, a subsidiary of the presentation of high private, quattro GmbH, is based on the Lamborghini Gallardo platform.
The basic structure of the R8 is based on the Audi Space Frame, and uses an aluminum monocoque chassis is based on the principles of space. The car is built by quattro GmbH in a factory, recently renovated, aluminum Audi site in Neckarsulm, Germany.In 2005, Audi announced that the name of Audi R8 race car to be used successfully for a new road in 2007, the Audi R8, based on the Audi Le Mans concept of four, appearing in the 2003 International Geneva Motor Show 2003 Frankfurt International Motor Show.
The R8 road car was officially launched at the Salon de l’Automobile in Paris September 30, 2006. There was some confusion with the name, which shares a car with the 24 Hours of Le Mans winning R8 Le Mans Prototype (LMP). 6 of 24 Hours of Le Mans winner Jacky Ickx described the R8 as “the best handling car today.”
