An almost entirely original, unrestored 1969 Chevrolet Corvette L88 with just 2,576 miles (4,145 km) on the odometer? Sounds like a unicorn, but Rick Cole Auctions says it’s the real deal.

Described as “the finest unrestored 1969 Corvette L88 coupe which can be acquired” and likely the lowest mileage L88 Corvette in existence, the vehicle is one of 116 units built and one of only 10 with 4.56:1 rear differential.

Offered with full documented provenance from new, this 1969 Corvette L88 will be offered this week at an auction in Monterey, with the seller estimating it could fetch between $650,000 and $750,000. This particular car is said to retain at least 90 percent of the original exterior paint finish and has a totally original interior including the warning sticker demanding the use of 103-Octane fuel only.

The Corvette L88 is powered by a RPO L88 427 cu-in (7.0-liter) V8 engine with aluminum cylinder heads and single Holley four-barrel carburetor, mated to a Muncie M22 four-speed manual transmission. Redlined at 6,500 rpm but capable of higher revs, the L88 engine was officially rated at 430hp - however, the engine was said to produce more than 500hp in stock guise.

The Corvette L88’s combination of incredible power with the sleek body, stout drivetrain, and excellent suspension made the car capable of exceeding 150 mph (241 km/h). With minor tweaks, the L88 was capable of doing the quarter-mile in 11 seconds. Needless to say, L88 models are among the most desirable and valuable Corvettes among collectors.
