The 2011 BMW M6 marked a major departure for the BMW M series, which saw a change in its engine from a V-10 to a V-8. Up until 2011, the V-10 engine was always the point of much debate among M series owners, as some drivers enjoyed the distinct race car sound it provided. Critics argued that performance wise it wasn't any better than a V-8 engine, while getting shockingly inefficient gas mileage. The M series was also plagued by transmission problems, as it used a very jerky seven speed automatic transmission, and did not offer any manual transmission options.
The 2011 M6 largely addresses these concerns, while improving on the M series already strong racing characteristics. Featuring a twin-turbocharged V-8 that outputs 600 horse power, the switch to a V-8 engine drastically cuts down the cars fuel consumption without sacrificing any power. Also gone is the clunky and much maligned automatic 7 speed SMG transmission. In its place is a much smoother and responsive 6 speed manual transmission that drivers have been demanding for years. Read on for an initial car review:

The vehicle also features a cutting edge iDrive interface that utilizes a hard drive navigation system and provides live traffic updates.

Interior Features

The new BMW M6 will see few changes for the new year, although some changes may be changed to the options. Interior features of the 2011 BMW M6 are likely to include leather sport seats with power adjustments and driver memory and heat, Bluetooth compatibility, heated front seats, two zones of automatic temperature control, a recently revamped iDrive interface that has hard-drive navigation with live traffic updates, and a Harman Kardon audio system. The convertible will have a powered soft top. Satellite and HD radio, iPod integration, and keyless entry may be options, or they may become standard for the new model year.
The front seats of the BMW M6 are comfortable, and have plenty of head and leg room for most people. The back seats will fit two, but there is not a lot of head or legroom. There is an average amount of trunk space for the class.

Performance

The 2011 BMW M6 is built to be a performance vehicle. Everything about the M6 screams high performance vehicle. From the quick acceleration to heavy braking, it's obvious that this car was designed with one goal in mind: to be unbelievably fast. This insane speed and acceleration as also coupled with amazing handling that drivers have come to expect from BMW. The seven-speed automated SMG transmission is described by some as jerky. A six-speed manual transmission should be available as an option without charge.

Summary

At this point many potential buyers are probably asking "What are the pros and cons of buying this vehicle? Is there even any downside? It sounds perfect". Unfortunately the price is a major con of buying the vehicle and will prohibit most drivers from enjoying the thrills that this luxury powerhouse provides. The fuel consumption of the 2011 BMW M6 is also low, although not too bad when compared with other cars in its class. If you have the financial means of purchasing this vehicle, then you shouldn't think twice about purchasing it, as it is well worth every penny. However, the 2011 BMW M6 will be a car that most people are only able to dream about purchasing.
